SHORTBREAD HEARTS FILLED WITH JAM

 

COOKIE INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 cups soft butter

2 C. SUGAR

4 EGGS

1 TSP. VANILLA

5 C. FLOUR

2 TSP. BAKING POWDER

1 TSP. SALT

Raspberry AND apricot jam for filling

Directions

1. Cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.  Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Cut centers out of half.  Place cookies 1 inch apart on parchment line cookie sheets.
3. Bake 6 to 10 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.  Put jam on solid shapes. Dust cut out halves with powdered sugar and top them together!

Coconut and pecan bars

Besides the urge to go to the kitchen, Nigella Lawson’s TV shows also bring me the thought of having kids – luckily for me the first is easy to deal with and the latter goes away after I finish watching the episode. :D

Bakewell slice and almost forgotten CDs and books

Trying to organize – at least a little – my CD collection I found this CD: I bought it in 1996 because of 3-4 songs but a couple of days later all the tracks had become favorites of mine – and still are. Almond and jam bars

You probably won’t believe me, but the universe conspired for me to make this recipe. :D

I was watching one of Bill’s shows – aren’t his daughters the cutest things ever? – and he made these bars. On the following morning, I found the exact amounts of almonds and jam in my fridge; I considered it a sign – you know how much I’m fond of signs – and started baking the bars right away. :D
